Penguin + Puffin Coast - Walk-Through Exhibit

July 19th, 2010.
This exhibit is truly a walk-through environment, as there are only short glass walls that are not fully enclosed that separate the birds from their human visitors. Ice-cold temperatures mean that the area is perfectly chilled to the desire of the penguins, and the 3 species on exhibit are king, rockhopper and gentoo. There is also a puffin habitat (horned and tufted) where the birds can actually splash visitors with their water-loving antics. On my visit there were 2 volunteers/docents in the building to ensure that no one reached over and touched a penguin, as it would be quite easy to do so in certain sections of the exhibit.
