Cypress Swamp - 1904 Flight Cage

July 19th, 2010.
It is fantastic to see a structure with significant historic value become redeveloped into a modern oasis for avian life. It is over 200 feet long and over 80 feet wide, and is it still one of the largest free-flight aviaries at any zoo in America?

Is the cypress swamp theme carried out in the species living here too? I love when aviaries, or Savannah exhibits and what not for that matter, stay true to a specific region.

Species in here are:
Black-crowned Night Heron
Blue-winged Teal
Bufflehead Duck
Canvasback duck
Cattle Egret
Double-crested Cormorant
Great Egret
Green Heron
Hooded Merganser
American Wood Duck
Northern Bobwhite
Northern Pintail Duck
Ruddy Duck
Roseate Spoonbill
Snowy Egret
White Ibis
Yellow-crowned Night Heron

Thanks for that KCZooFan. That species list is quite interesting and fits the theme really well.
