What is so odd about this exhibit (which I have seen recently, have you?)? If you are refering to the size of the pool, it is bigger than this photo would suggest.
When zoos name their wattled cranes "Saddam" and "Satan", I dont think I would need to elaborate too much. Cranes as a whole are not the most pleasant of animals.

I kinda like this exhibit. It looks like they have done a lot of research. Since Gharials mainly eat fish it most likely won't try the bird on. But still animals are unpredictable and people are learning new stuff about animals today. Chimps ( eating others ). So it may not be that weird if the gharial may take a snap here and there.
