Sorry but I did not write down the bird species at this zoo as it would have taken me all day. I would hazard a guess that 99% of the population doesn't care what is in these aviaries as on my visit last summer endless streams of zoo goers simply walked past with barely a glance at the occupants. Modern exhibitry equals biomes, geographic distribution or walk-through aviaries, and these outdated enclosures are pointless other than perhaps for breeding purposes. For example I entered the Hixon Bird House at the San Antonio Zoo twice and on both occasions it was empty as most folks aren't interested in museum-like dioramas in outdated bird houses.

I can't disagree with you here, but I will point out that the San Diego Zoo is filled with very similar rows of repetitive avian "stamp collections," but seems to be forgiven by its fans, perhaps because it also features some pretty remarkable giant walk-through aviaries.
