tiger sign - bad math

July 30, 2013. Let us all read the bottom line together. "There are six species of tiger: Siberian, Sumatran, Bengal, Malayan and South China."

I do not have a math degree, but it seems to me something is not adding up.

I was at this exhibit for a scheduled talk. It was put on by someone from education staff who appeared to be about 17 or 18 years old. He also said there are five species of tigers, but instead of the malayan listed here, he said indochinese. When asked about white tigers (by a child) he said there are white tigers but they are not a distinct species (correct). He then went on to say that any of the five species of tiger can occur in a white form (wrong, wrong, wrong)!
