Interesting to note about that particular exhibit; that is where they housed the giant pandas that visited the zoo in 1988. It's been remodeled a bit, but if you look at it closely you can kind of see.
 
That's actually a really interesting fact, and I can see how it could have held giant pandas. The cage is quite large for a few hornbills.
 
The zoo has over 350 species of birds, including more species of hornbills than any other zoo in North America. Southern sulawesi, black-casqued, wrinkled, red-knobbed, longtailed, white-headed, javan rhinoceros, great hornbill, etc. There are about 30 different species of hornbill at the zoo.
 
30 sp. between them, but I think that may be decreasing (No white headed, and the male black casqued at the zoo has gone to Phoenix)
