For all of our debating about this, I find that the only way I'll know what this exhibit accomplishes is to be there for a long while watching animals and visitors. What do the visitors "get" out of this? Do they talk about pre-historic California or simply "ooo look at the elephant"? Do they point to Asian elephants and tell their kids ,"They live in the desert in Africa" or "Animals like that once lived right here!." This exhibit concept is very new and unusual. Does it succeed? I hope the zoo is doing evaluation polling.
