Shade structure, there's also a place for the pronghorn to get away from the camels, which they can crawl into. I think its a nice touch to the exhibit. I think "flintstone house" is what they may have been going for. The whole "theme" of EO is "desert outpost" for a dig site or something.

In this exhibit yes, the Asses and Horses are on the other side. Sometimes they take the camels to the other side for people to pet and stuff. The "Pleistocene Petting Zoo" is more of an interactive/educational exhibit for people to touch and learn about the animals.
