Sun Bear Forest - Lion-tailed Macaque exhibit

June 2009
This is a top-notch, fairly naturalistic environment for lion-tailed macaques as the terrain is varied and impressively designed. The exhibit is even larger than what is shown in the photo, and with grass, waterways, shade, hammocks, embankments, etc, it really is quite ideal for its inhabitants.

I think that the Woodland Park Zoo's lion-tailed macaque might be the only one in North America that gives San Diego a run for its money, although San Diego wins out in my opinion due to the slightly larger enclosure and the fact that in Seattle the primates are difficult to locate:

When this exhibit opened, it had both macaques and binturongs. Too bad the binturongs have been evicted. :(

Yeah, I don't remember where, but I saw a pic of two binturongs with a macaque in the background in the exhibit. Do you know why they were taken out?

I think there was to much agression and conflict beetween the two species
