I had previously railed against this exhibit based on photos. Now that I have seen it in person I can assure you it is as bad as it looks. The peripheral exhibits are not too bad (jaguar, snake, condor, etc). But the elephant area, which is of course the biggest space and the main attraction, is just the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I don't know what in the world they were thinking. This is a HUGE step backwards for San Diego and for modern zoo design.
