This is the massive new exhibit complex, opened in May 2009, that is themed to interpreting Southern California during the Pleistocene through habitats for animals that are living examples of the descendants of extinct species from 12,000 years ago.

I realize that this has been stated before, but that damn ugly holding building is a MASSIVE eyesore. It looks like a concrete bunker with metal bars to keep the aliens from attacking. (Those UFO-style elephant feeding stations might contain intelligent life from some other galaxy.:))

i cringed at the concept of EO way back when i first caught wind of it. back then the idea had plenty of supporters round here.

now this bomb of an mega exhibit is extant - does anyone actually like it?

I like it, don't love it. And I'd bet that the vast majority of visitors to the zoo like it. Once again, I think people on here have trouble realizing that most people don't care much about some of the things we do.

what i dont like about it, from what ive seen in the photos, is that they seem to have started well but then just got lazy or something and left of lots of little things like theming the buildings or hiding ugly fences and buildings so the overall effect is for me totally ruined.
