This hippo exhibit is great any time of year, but especially during summer night zoo. The pool is softly lit underwater, the path is softly lit with ground level lights, the surrounding area is dark and most of the crowds have gone home. If you've never been to San Diego Zoo at night, you are really missing out. (Looking ahead, I may promote this as a 2010 ZooChat roundup, since the 2009 trip fell through).
