This area is an excellent small exhibit complex themed to the rocky outcrops of the African savanna. The core of the complex opened in 1986, while an adjoining existing older yard was renovated and incorporated later.

When I visited the zoo this past June the aviary had: wattled starling, western white-crowned robin-chat, white-headed lapwing, golden-breasted starling, rueppell's white-crowned shrike, reichenow's weaver, madagascar partridge, white-bellied go-away bird, woodland kingfisher, senegal laughing dove, and bearded barbet.
