San Diego Zoo - Polar Bear Plunge

August 2008.
It pales in comparison to Detroit's Arctic Ring of Life, but Polar Bear Plunge might well be the #2 best polar bear exhibit in North America.

I think all Polar Bear exhibits pale in comparison to Arctic Ring of Life as all Gorilla exhibits pale in comparison to Congo Gorilla Forest.

I really like this exhibit, and the bears always seem to be occupied doing something. Plus they have a mud hole which is extremely uncommon for polar bear exhibits.

Never been to Detroit but was impressed with this exhibit. San Diego remains the most dynamic zoo I've ever visited. They just get things done amazingly fast for the most part!

I seem to recall reading about an upcoming extension to this exhibit. Does anyone know if it is due to the construction of a cubbing den?

Ummm...yes. They're native here. ;)

But to answer what is most likely your actual question. Many US zoos have them. San Diego, Woodland Park, Pocatello, Denver, Bronx, just to name a few. There are loads more.
