Prague zoo has not many parrot species. They have a "lory-path" with 8 cages containing mostly smaller lory species, one walk-trough lory aviary, and a few other species scattered in the lower part of the zoo. The zoo plans to build new spacious aviaries for large parrots next year on the old "parrot-path". The zoo serves as a rescue centrum for illegal birds too, seized at the airport or among private keepers, those parrots are off-show till related lawsuits are over. Zoo also owns some parrots loaned to other zoos, botanical gardens or private keepers because they had no place or future plans for them (blue-and yellow macaws, white cockatoos, tucuman amazon, Tres Maria amazon, cuban amazon, great green macaw...).
