I believe this area is still unchanged. In fact, I just posted a photo of those same "aviaries" (actually small mammal cages) that I took one week ago.
 
They may have had small mammals in them then too, I guess. I called the aviaries in the title because thats what they look like, but they could have been for mammals.
 
The first grotto visible in this picture, long ago housed peccaries, then later warthogs. I'm not sure what's in there now but I think I've heard it now houses crested porcupines.

That is true, half is porcupines and the other half is warthogs.

Thanks for posting these pictures Hix, its cool seeing how much the zoo has changed (or not changed here) over the years.

I'm just sorry my parents didn't take more pictures when we were there.

I remember thinking how great the forest of trees on the hillside was, but I guess they're the reason why this valley was in shadow so much of the time. And I guess those trees have grown a bit since this photo was taken, too.
