Thanks for the overview shots - I have been very curious to see what this brand new exhibit looks like. Really doesn't seem any better or bigger than the old exhibit (well maybe a bit taller and the glass viewing is better for photography).
Once their lone leopard passes, I wonder if they will use if for a different species or subspecies, or if they will work with the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound to maintain north china leopards?
A visitor progresses through the Africa Rocks section and at the end of the pathway (moving uphill) there is a very nice bateleur eagle aviary and then the famous Kopje exhibit with klipspringers and rock hyrax. Going through the Kopje area with its gigantic rocks there is a large aviary with weavers and other birds...and then the North Chinese leopard exhibit. One would imagine San Diego going with an African leopard in the future to maintain the geographic theme but I wouldn't bet on it considering that there are rock wallabies and Chinese goral in the Africa Rocks zone.
The new exhibit is not really that large but there is a fair amount of height and the glass viewing windows are impressive.
Thanks! For a moment I thought it was on the other side of the zoo by the Ituri Forest. I'm guessing that by the location the zoo will replace the Northern Chinese Leopard when it dies with an African Leopard.
