Malayan Tiger Exhibit

July 26th, 2011.
This is the bottom of the three separate viewing areas. It used to have a pool that drained via a waterfall on the right into the bottom area (which you can see from the middle of the three viewing areas). But it is now dry for some reason. The first viewing area still has its pool and waterfall (or did the last time I was there over a year ago) and the middle area still had a pool at the bottom, just not the nice waterfall flowing down into it. Also, all of the nice grass that covered the entire exhibit for the first couple years has worn away.

I would guess the dense shade created by the now-mature forest canopy makes it very hard for grass to grow, especially with young tigers using the exhibit. Overall, these photos seem to show this exhibit has aged very nicely.
