I was very puzzled by the absence of a two-toed sloth as there is evidence of it being a perfect outdoor sloth habitat and the zoo used to have them in the enclosure. The giant sloth statue, multiple branches along with a nesting box make it seem as if a sloth would be present, but on my visit there was no sloth sign whatsoever and no sloth!
There was shade, but they cut down half the tree. It was rather nice to look up and see a sloth in the tree. Maybe the staff thought the sloth would get grabbed by a hawk? Or maybe that it was better to look down on a dik-dik instead of having the viewer look up at a sloth in the trees like they would in a wild sighting?
