will the wombat be off exhibit in june? Im going there first week and ive never seen one but i didnt know if it was tied into the koala exhibits. thks matt

I know with some marsupials they are so short-lived and so rare that their export is probably not worth the hassle, but these factors don't apply to this species (or to Common). Both have been deemed agricultural pests in areas of Australia, and purely on animal welfare grounds it would surely be desirable to export some to zoos outside Australia.

The wombat is on exhibit now and some of the koalas will be in a temporary exhibit across from the 4D theater.

Hurrah. A perfect transition between Polar Rim and Elephant Odyssey!

The naming of the whole area Polar Rim is what is silly here. The whole stretch between Polar Bear Plunge and Elephant Odyssey really is more or less "unthemed" so other than calling this area Polar Rim, it doesn't actually make any difference that they add koalas to the existing maned wolves, Arabian oryx, lesser kudu, et al.

Maybe the name Polar Rim is trying to imply the area between the two polar regions (e.g. the rest of the world) and they can therefore keep any species there. :)
