Bonobos

Does anybody know if all of the San Diego bonobos are at the zoo now? Somebody here said that the bonobo exhibit at the Safari Park was being closed (functionally it already was since nobody could see it).

All of the bonobos are at the zoo. There are 13 total, 9 females and 4 males. We lost our breeding male 7 months ago.

Do you know if the Bonobo exhibit at the park is holding anything at this point? If not, do they plan to demolish it? Or perhaps have they already?

Have you ever known SDZS to keep any enclosure (on or off view) empty for any period of time? I would be surprised to know that it is or will remain empty for long.

True that is how the Zoological Society of San Diego behaved, but now that they are San Diego Zoo Global their behavior is rash and unpredictable. :D

I talked to the keeper who came with the bonobos from the park and she said that as of now it is empty and she did not know what the plans are. They were on an island that visitors could only get to with a behind the scenes tour.
