Brown Hyaena Enclosures

Taken 26th October 2015
The first enclosure goes up to a discreet ditch visible about halfway up the picture with a second one beyond. A Hyaena can be seen on the right hand side of the near enclosure for scale.

Points to anyone who can spot the second Hyaena which is just about visible in this picture. (though it is more of a vaguely hyaena shaped and coloured blob sadly.)

Were these two enclosures bear grottoes at one point? I've visited 325 different zoos and aquariums (mainly in the U.S.) and I've never even seen a brown hyaena and that alone makes me want to jump on a plane bound for Prague. :)

When and where were the last brown hyenas in North America?
I know only that Wildlife Safari in Oregon had them back in the 1980s.
