Raccoon Exhibit

July 26th, 2011.
I would like to see this turned into a Arctic Hare or Ermine exhibit!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on San Diego

I've only seen raccoons in zoos twice (Artis and Rotterdam) and both times they were active in outdoor exhibits.

Yes, this is a perfectly adequate raccoon exhibit. I saw the animal active on my visit. Snowshoe hare husbandry is tricky, and this exhibit is hardly ideal for them, and ermine are tiny, they'd slip right through the mesh. How about we reserve wishlisting for the "Fantasy Zoos" forum. ;)

Before they started putting these guys in when they redid/ruined PBP it had Snowy Owls marked. I wish they went with those instead, as I never see the raccoons here.

When PBP first opened there were supposedly snowy owls there. I never saw them. By the first time I visited it had already changed to Siberian Yellow-throated Martens. It briefly then held a Turkmenistan Caracal, but since that has held Northern Raccoon.

You forgot Pallas Cats too. Were there Siberian Cranes at one point in the waterfowl exhibit outside?

I only ever saw Pallas' Cats in what is the former and current Arctic Fox exhibit. Didn't ever see Siberian cranes either, only ones I ever saw there were Demoiselle.

Yes the pallas cats were in the exhibit to the right but this exhibit held arabian wildcat on one of my visits. (Talk about going way off theming!)
