This is one of the underrated (and hidden away!) delights of the world-famous San Diego Zoo, and while perhaps not so unique as the similarly-themed walk-through aviary at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum...still a wonder for many fans of tiny birds.:) How many hummingbird species are currently at the zoo?

I love this part of the zoo !

In between the Plate Billed Mountain Toucans outside (which can actually be quite interactive) and all of the wonders within the aviary, its an awesome place to spend time. Plus the aviary has a few unlabled species in it that are quite the treat.

Also the two male Jacobins are the only hummingbirds on exhibit, however I believe (emphasis on believe, as this was a few months back now and my memory is foggy) that while I was talking with a keeper she mentioned they had a few more hummingbirds in the back section of the hummingbird aviary off exhibit. Don't quote me on that though.

Too late. You've been quoted.

There was just the one species at the zoo last time I visited too. They used to have more. There are several species of wild hummingbirds zipping around the zoo and Balboa Park also.
