It is somewhat ironic that Elephant Odyssey has been blasted for its somewhat hit-and-miss exhibits (I'm looking at you, horse yard!) but this Streamside Habitat is terrific. What is the species list for the exhibit? Also, I will say that the California condor and jaguar enclosures in Elephant Odyssey are above average even though the main attraction (elderly Asian elephants) has been viewed as a disappointing enclosure.

In November 2013 the species within this habitat were Coast Range Newt, Western Fence Lizard, Pacific Pond Turtle, Side-blotched Lizard, Western Skink, Pacific Chorus Frog, and Western Toad.

are the 3 elderly African elephants also housed at the elephant Odyssey?

I have to ask, has anyone actually SEEN any of these species, aside from the pond turtles, in this nicely naturalistic but somewhat incongruous exhibit?

I have seen the Pond Tutles (at least 3) and a Western Fence Lizard. Although the lizard was probably wild as it came in by climbing down the back wall into the exhibit and it later left the exhibit the same way. If the zoo actually added lizards into this exhibit I believe they could leave the same way.

Since the opening of EO, the zoo has also added statues of lizards, newts, and I believe a turtle inside the exhibit.

Yes, Morgan. There are now (December 2013) 3 female African elephants at EO. There is the one who has been at the zoo for years, one from the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, and one who just arrived from New Zealand.

I saw a pacific tree frog in here once, though like the fence lizard, they may just be wild animals attracted to the location.
