Is this takin exhibit now the site of the new maned wolf enclosure? Is the 4-D Simulator ride directly next to the maned wolves?

The eastern side of the former takin complex is the maned wolf exhibit. The western side is the new "4D" theater currently showing a film based on the "Happy Feet" movies. Oh joy.

I go to the zoo at least once a week and I have never seen anyone in line for the theater. They were giving tickets away through a facebook contest.

You can't even see the entire zoo in one day. Why would you spend that one day watching a film based on another film?

I realize that San Diego now has its takin herd in the new Panda Trek zone (built in late 2011) but what happens to the baby takins born at the zoo? Since 1989 San Diego has had more than 50 takin births and yet there are barely any takins to be found at any North American zoos. Where have those 50+ babies gone?

You have to keep in mind that Sichuan takins are not the only takin species that the San Diego Zoo has kept, besides currently having Sichuan takins, they also had Mishmi takins in the past, and Mishmi takins are a phase out species in AZA

Or are you only talking about Sichuan takins, if so it is possible that there are some in the private sector, or another possibility is them being sent to Europe

The 4D rides at a zoo are almost always a failure.

I'd have to say that almost is an understatement, they are always a horrible edition to zoos, zoos are are supposed to be places that collect animals, exhibit animals, breed animals, and educate people about animals, people don't go to zoos to ride rides, watch movies, watch performances, or play games. People go to zoos to see and learn about animals, zoos are the only hope for many animal species and shouldn't waste their space with 4D theatres, rides, arcades, or other junk. Zoos should use their valuable and precious space to exhibit more animals, they should also use their limited money for things like animal care, obtaining more animals, renovating old exhibits, building new exhibits, salaries for zoo staff, and other important things. things like 4D theatres, Arcades, Ziplines, Water parks, Rides, and other junk are a waste of the zoos money, a waste of the people's tax dollars, and kills the purpose of a zoo, those things should be saved for Six Flags or Boomers, as Red Uakari said, unlike the ZSSD parks at least Disney does commercialism with class.
