One of my favorite Fruit dove species. I took care for a small group in the 1980-ties at Walsrode Birdpark.
Do you know if San Diego still have them and have they been bred at San Diego ?

I saw this lone male (blind in his left eye) on 2011.
When I visited San Diego on February 2014, I didn't go to their exhibit. My apology. I'll find out more on next visit.

This single female is kept still in a glass aviary with blue-crowned hanging parrots in tiger river. There are some in private collections in CA, and also in Europe. Cologne zoo have some off-show at the moment.

Many thanks for the info Threeple61. Didn't know its a female. Always thought its a male. :)
Gonna visit her next time.

As far as I know female, could be wrong. One of my favorite ptilinopus species would bee nice to see more in zoos
