Great to see it open finally, when I was there a few weeks ago, it was still under wraps. Directly behind it is a HUGE wide open graded area that I have no idea what it's intended for. Thanks for the pics!

What do you mean by a huge wide open graded area? Behind the exhibit are off-exhibit hoofstook yards along an open hillside, is that what you are referring?
Also, there is a video on San Diego's blog that gives you more of a sense of the exhibit. You can see the mountain lions bounding up the rockwork, and there are even some native plants in the exhibit.
