Tongan megapode (Megapodius pritchardii)

Dec. 25, 2015. The best shot I could manage, but still a special Christmas treat!
Glad to know I went to the SD zoo the same day with another zoochatter! I caught the Blyth's Tragopan and Kagu too. The Blyth's Tragopan was the most friendly bird during my visit and was very curious about my camera!:D

It was a great Christmas Day. A lot of those birds were friendly as I assume they are often overlooked (average zoo visitor is attracted by the nearby polar bears). My mom and I made friends with an extremely friendly bird (it was a white rumped something or other) in the second aviary. Also, in Parker Aviary, a Capuchinbird got closer, and closer, and closer to where I could have touched it if it weren't separated by a fence.
