San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park

Male Lion that did not move from the land rover the entire day!
and specifically it's the monorail. The monorail was named the WGASA bushline.

I personally like JiA although many criticize it. I have never been on WGASA since my first time to WAP was after it closed, but to my understanding it broke down a lot, and covered a lot more ground than JiA so it is understandable that JiA is only 25 min. while WGASA was 50 min. I like that WAP offers the caravan because if one is willing to spend more they can always get a more up close experience with the field animals. Is that possible at DAK? Absolutely Not.

I rode on the monorail a few times many years ago, and it was great. But if it had broken down it would have been a loooooooong walk back. (But what a brilliant walk that would have been!!!!!)

WGASA = 50 minutes and included with admission
JIA = 25 minutes and an extra charge?

I miss WGASA already!

I've been a member basically my whole life, so I have ridden the monorail many many times, and it only had problems once, and that was for a short time. A maintenance worker rode out on a dirt bike, it was kinda cool, at least for a little kid :). I recently went to the park and saw all the new changes, and rode the new ride. Since I'm a member, I get on free :p and there are some exhibits/animals you don't see anymore, like the wild asses, and you don't go by the big rock exhibit with all the goats, but (after straining my eyes to see) i saw the goats are still up there. I always liked that exhibit and trying to find all the goats, since they blend in so well.

While it's still a fantastic park, it will never be as good as it was when the monorail was running. Not only did it go around ALL compounds (including Asia), but it also ended by going through Nairobi Village and past the gorillas.

As for original comment, the JIA tracks (in background) do not bother me nearly as much as the stupid land rover smack in the middle of the exhibit. This is a disturbing trend that seems to be popping up all over.

Land rovers are to lion exhibits what Mayan pyramids are to jaguar exhibits. Either way I find them distasteful.

I have to say, I have not been since JiA opened, but from what I've seen it looks like not nearly as special an experience as the WGASA was.
