It was a lot of fun. Though, the elephants were running around and trumpeting in a way that made them seem agitated. The whole herd was in the lower yard (former Asian exhibit) and their was some construction going on in the upper yard, it may have had to do with that.
They look happy. Something I've never seen at the Maryland zoo or Smithsonian ( I haven't been there since before they redid their elephant exhibit, so maybe thats changed)

I'm happy to report that the new elephant exhibit at the National Zoo is really nice. Their young male elephant was playing with some of the enrichment items in his exhibit and it was joyful to watch him seeming to enjoy himself. The National Zoo exhibit also has some great interpretive graphics about elephant biology and conservation.
