wgasa bushline (farewell old friend)

Yes, this picture brings a lot of memories

It is too bad (and a shame) that this great way to see animals is history. And the "journey-into-africa"-buses (or trains or whatever) are far, far away to replace wgasa in the same quality.

Wgasa was free with park entrance, you've been able to use it as much as you want. It was a 50 minutes (and often longer) trip to Lions, Tigers, Elephants, Mountain Habitat, Asian Plains, Asian Waterhole, East-, North- and South-Africa.

And now??? The only advantage of JiA is, that it brings you a little closer to the animals generally.

You can see the lions, tigers, elephants, etc. from walking and look as long as you want. Plus JiA focuses in on just the African exhibits for 25 minutes, where WGASA went all over practically the whole park in 50 minutes. Not to mention WAP is planning Tiger Trail, and you will be able to view the Asian Plains as long as you like.

@BlackRhino:

Yes, the lions, tigers and elephants could be seen from walking - but this isn't new. That was also possible during the "Wgasa period". And yes, JiA is just covering the african areas - but why? You have to pay more money (for a shorter trip) and see less animals.

I agree for Tiger Trail. That will be - by my personal opinion - a great throw.

What I don't understand is, from where (by using foottrails) you can see Asian Plains. Will that be in future from a overview point at the new Tiger Trail exhibit or is this already possible?

When they build Tiger Trails, they will add a walkway to the old monorail bridge over the lion/tiger area to a new overlook over the Asian Plains and Central Asia exhibits. At least that's the plan.

This picture brings back happy memories and questions about where this park is going. Has anybody heard anything concrete about when/whether the new tiger area is going forward? Will this project restore normal visitor access to seeing some of the Asia exhibits that have been functionally closed since the monorail closed?

On another thread somebody (Otter Lord?) mentioned a rumor that the bonobo exhibit was getting shut down at the park and everyone moved to the zoo. Is that happening?

By all appearances, it would seem that both the bridge to an Asia viewing area and the path to the bonobo exhibit have at the very least been tabled, if not cancelled outright.
