Lion Inside Cage

A very old lioness died a few days before my visit, the flowres are from very sad and emotional people, the same happend after the daeath of the handraised elephant calf at Berlin Zoo- I can't understand that, these are animals and no humans.

People feel attched to them, like they do to their pets.
Nothing wrong with that ;)

It's when the people go on holidays and send the zoo animal postcards, saying "Wish You Were Here", that's what I think is over the top.

I diffrence between people and animals. And its disgusting to build pet semetaries...
I'm interested in animals since many years and I have some pets at home, but I keep them like animals, so they don't sleep in my bed for expamle( would be not good, to let snakes and crocs into my bed,Ha,ha) That was just a Joke, I've only some rodents, and I keep them in huge and natural exhibits, not in cages.

Well the lion's mourne for eacho other, as do other animals, so I don't se why people can't mourne the animals themselves. However, postcards...?
Don't think the animals appreciate them somehow ;)

To be honest, i don't think that recently deceased people really appreciate the flowers that they get either.

I don't mind people getting attached to animals, it's only natural but i think its wrong to think they are like people. I imagine that every species has different thought processes - i would so love to hear one speak its opinions...

Actually - as far as the lions´ mournings go, I´m not so sure...

I saw a documentary where a lion cub was killed by buffaloes and later eaten by her own mother. Which makes perfect sense from a strictly evolutionary standpoint of course, but...

How is eating your own young an evolutionary advantage?

In the sense that the dead cub´s body came into use as food for the cub´s species. By eating her dead cub the lioness became a little stronger and could perhaps hunt more effectively to feed the surviving cubs.
