Lion Inside Cage

That's not an evolutionary advantage. That's a practical use of resources. It's a behavioural advantage.

Isn´t this a bit of sophistry or nitpicking on your behalf, Hix? "Evolutionary advantage" or "behavioural advantage"?

"Tomatos or tomatoes"?

I will try to rephrase my argument (and remember that English is not my native language, hence my argumentation here at ZooChat will always contain lots of grammatical errors, misspellings etc).

A lion cub was killed by buffaloes. When found by its mother, she ate the carcass. This strengthened the mother - if ever so slightly. But she had a little more food in her stomach - and therefore a little more strength - the next time she went out hunting for food for herself and her surviving cubs. This was one of those billions and billions of small details that happen to strengthen a species - in this case African lions.

So, to quote my original statement, this particular act of this particular lioness made "... perfect sense from a strictly evolutionary standpoint...".

PS
I had to search in a dictionary to find the words "sophistry" and "nitpicking". Hope they are not offending.... ;)

Not offended at all. Mind you, I don't know what sophistry means, but if it's like nitpicking, that's fine. Because I am a nitpicker.

When we talk about evolution I am usually referring to a physiological (or structural) change - usually a mutation - that confers a survival benefit to that individual. Over time the species evolves into something new and different while the original species may remain extant, or may die out altogether.

As for English not being your native tongue, you appear to have an excellent command of the language, better than many Aussies I know who have English as their only language. Unfortunately, the only non-English words I know are Latin and Greek binomials - not really good for conversations - and a couple of Klingon insults (again, not good for conversations).

I diffrence between people and animals. And its disgusting to build pet semetaries...
I'm interested in animals since many years and I have some pets at home, but I keep them like animals, so they don't sleep in my bed for expamle( would be not good, to let snakes and crocs into my bed,Ha,ha) That was just a Joke, I've only some rodents, and I keep them in huge and natural exhibits, not in cages.

From my experiance with German people. They seem very practical and to the point. It would suprise me though that you could not sympythise with someone emotional atachment to a pet.

I have always had dogs and horses. When they do pass away usually from natural causes l go through a mourning period of days and sometimes weeks. I also always fondly remmber them as i see them in family photos ect.

Pet semetaries personally not for me. Although l have buried many pets in my parents back-yard.

So whats with the Rodents:p

OK......moving away from flowers and dead lions......the house looks a little crude does'nt it?
