There are numerous youtube videos showing the orca shows at SeaWorld in which the various changes made since the in-water interactions with the whales have ended can be seen. Trainers still work with the whales on the stage (as shown above) and slideout areas (shallow water areas) but no longer touch them around the head area. They still touch the whales anywhere behind the pectoral flippers. Short metal barriers can be inserted along the stage and slideout areas, which the trainers stay behind when 'hugging' the animals or touching the head area. Tilikum at SeaWorld Orlando is the one exception, he appears to be worked with exclusively in protected contact now. Trainers stay behind the glass during shows and do not enter the stage or slideout and keep behind waist-high fences at other times. Hope this gives you a bit of an idea!
