It looks like most of the shade for this exhibit is in the shadows of the viewing shelter and holding building, is that true? It looks like a nice exhibit for viewing, with elevation change, but the taller vegetation seems to be too far out of reach. However, there is clearly a line of young vegetation intended to shoot up and eventually create a lusher backdrop!

It should be noted that in Wichita large living trees are not common and larger trees for planting are difficult to come by. It is the prairie and is not welcoming of trees. You can see several modest sized trees planted in the exhibit but it will take some time before they can offer much shade.
Our landscaping staff are hoping to have the large bamboos to get tall and dense in order to cover up the perimeter fence as the backdrop, and then hoping in a few years all the trees to grow within the exhibit. So far that is the plan.
