I really like this lion exhibit! It really resembles an actual African Savanna, and would look much better if the large viewing window on the left side were somehow disguised with bushes, trees, etc.

There are many contenders for the best lion exhibit in the United States, but this fairly recent (opened in 2000) enclosure might just get my vote. Denver and San Diego Zoo's Safari Park both also have top-notch lion habitats, as do many other major zoos.

This looks as good now as it did when I saw it in 2001. (I had not planned to go to Wichita, but was flying home on the morning of September 11, 2001 and when the entire US fleet was ordered to land due to the terrorist attacks, we were diverted to Wichita for two days, so I spent September 12 at the zoo).

My other favorite lion exhibits are:

Denver Zoo (Colorado, USA)
Houston Zoo (Texas, USA)
San Diego Safari Park (California, USA)
Out Of Africa (Arizona, USA)
Le Parc Des Felins (FRANCE)

A very good exhibit indeed, nice and lush. I agree with Blackrino on the fact that the big viewing window isn't hided as it does some damage to the overall impression of this exhibit being a Savannah. The rock work although is really well done here.
