It is definitely short on climbing areas for the red panda(s), and like the nearby tiger exhibit I'm hoping that the area will become much more dense with foliage as the years go by. The bright side for visitors is that in "Tiger Trek" there are excellent viewing opportunities of two decent but not outstanding animal habitats.
I got to say that this exhibit is more savannah looking and not Chinese forest looking. don't like it that much and it hasn't the climbing facilities you would've expect from a Red Panda exhibit.

Like Snowleopard alluded to this exhibit is still fairly new, the plantings should grow in nice and lush but it will take some time. This was a large, flat, treeless field before this exhibit so there were few existing trees to save in order to provide more of a forest atmosphere. Also, the zoo has added a few additional climbing structure since this photo was taken I believe.
The vegetation indeed did grow nicely. The shade and climbing opportunities did improve for the Panda's. I must say the exhibit looks better and if it keeps growing it sure will end up as a good exhibit.
