Is this enclosure brand new? Is the zoo looking to replicate this type of environment for its chimpanzees? It is a shame to see some of the metal outdoor cages still in existence but at least a little bit of progress has been made.

I'm not sure as it was my first visit to this zoo.......other older photos would suggest that they had originally envisaged a new outdoor area for the chimps too, so maybe that will still happen. If all these cages were removed, there would be space for a fairly large chimp enclosure.
