When i was there in june 2011 i didnt see the japanese giant salamander. Is there a exhibit in asia trail for them? i see you have reptile house but didnt see them in there either nor this exhibit. I finally saw this species in toledo and detriot but im planning on going back to smithsonian national zoo either labor day wknd this year or next year sometime. I hope to see this species again.
They have two exhibits for giant salamanders - one in Asia Trail (across from giant pandas) has one salamander but very poor visibility. The one in Reptile House is really in the keepers' service area but can be viewed through windows from the exhibit floor.
