When people were complaining because they had to close it they mentioned how they eventually want to build a hall of biodiversity which will include invertebrates.
No they didn't have enough funding to keep it open and they didn't think it was right to raise 20 million dollars to fund it when they're currently trying to fund a multi million dollar bird house renovation.

I agree I would rather see Inverts over Birds but the Bird house needed to be upgraded badly and they already started funding for the project so it just made sense to them.
I still remember going to the Invertebrate House during my Elementary School field trip and seeing an Octopus for the first time. Rest in Peace, Invertebrate House. You'll always be in our hearts.
