How did this marginal zoo play politics with usfws to obtain these birds. They are a wasted display at this marginal zoo. They should be house in TX, FL, NOLA ZOO, patuxent wildlife center or international crane foundation for headstart reproduction.

There is only one male crane in here. He was removed from the wild after remaining on a national guard base because a neighbor was feeding him. The crane is the oldest bird in the eastern migratory population, and age might have impacted his fertility (though I'm no scientist, this may be false.) In addition, Zoo New England has a long and successful history with cranes, particularly Franklin Park Zoo, so they knew the Whooping Crane was going into capable hands.
