This is one of a handful of shots in this set that if I remember correctly are actually my Dad's shots from the same visit, duplicated to replace a few of my shots where the glare got the better of my camera! It's hard after this long to be sure which are which and we were both using a mix of lenses so there's no consistent 'look' to either of our photos! (except that all the slightly blurry or mesh-overlaid shots are definitely mine! )
In cases where the shots are my Dad's, I'm sure I have a blurry, over-exposed shot from a few feet to the side somewhere!
More to the point, this is a Southern Aardwolf judging by the timing and the appearance of the individual; a subspecies which is down to a single collection in the world (Hamerton) outside the native range holding them. The "in" subspecies, the Eastern Aardwolf, is faring rather better.
