I think that having an underwater tunnel for a river otter exhibit is a brilliant idea, but after having visited the zoo this area has a major flaw. There is no exit at the end of this relatively short tunnel, and I'm not sure that I've ever seen that before in all of the tunnels I've been through at various zoos and aquariums. On my visit there was a huge traffic jam of people all crammed into the small space as once an individual (or a family of 5 with strollers!) goes into the tunnel there is only the single entrance/exit. An innovative idea, but a stupid application of it.
There wouldn't be a practical way to have an exit on the other side imo. So it's either have the tunnel without an exit (there are a few things on the other side of the tunnel) or don't have it at all. I'll take the tunnel. It's usually not very crowded either.
