Baltimore Zoo - Former ungulate exhibits

Former ungulate paddocks. There is a considerable walk from the main gate to the exhibit area or you can take the zoo train. However I would advise those interested in zoo history to walk so they can have a look at these historic ungulate exhibits; the train route and the pedestrian pathway are different.

Interesting...When I was in Kindergarden we took a field trip here when all of these exhibits were still open. Most of the collection was here.I even remember these exhibits.I think they had some kind of deer and emu in one...

I tried to walk through that part but it was closed and I couldn't get in when I went back in September

Why not bring back north american species here, like elk or red wolf ? it would add nice to the maryland wilderness area. The day after halloween the forest was lovely but families with small children were complaining about the long walk from the entrance.

I agree, and it's not like those exhibits are too small, they are of fairly reasonable size actually.

The Baltimore Zoo did go through a massive budget crisis a few years back that threatened to close the zoo in many aspects. This situation resulted in a new cash flow from the state of Maryland (thus the new name change) and the closing of all the zoo's older exhibits.
