It seems to me that most of the cages/enclosures that house either mammals (excepting hoofstock) or birds are housed in either small red cages or glass box-cages or barren outside cages with a solid (heavy) roof ?
Even the other cages are indoors with no access to above natural light.
Very bizarre indeed, in fact I have never seen anything like it before.
The cages have a substrate (well sawdust mainly), a water bowl and if they are really lucky......a thin branch or two. If the owners of the zoo think that is acceptable, in this day and age, then there is little hope.
