Toledo Zoo - Africa!

July 2008. Masai Giraffe, Grant's Zebra, Impala, Greater Kudu, Wildebeest, Nile Lechwe, Vultures, Saddle-Billed Stork, White Stork, Helmeted Guineafowl, East African Crowned Crane and Ostrich are the species in this multi-acre exhibit. The savanna is spectacular, but there is only the one viewing opportunity...unless a visitor decides to pay extra for a train ride around the huge paddock.

This 5-acre enclosure really needs some type of visitor boardwalk that projects into the space for the animals. Of course that would cut back on the land area for the inhabitants, but at the moment it is just a huge paddock that can only be properly seen by paying to ride the train.

That was the whole point of the exhibit, if you weren't able to glean that after walking past the various money-making venues of the "African Market" on your way to the only viewing area.....
