What is happening to this exhibit when Penguin Beach opens in 2014? Between that and the $25 million renovation of the Aquarium (which opens in 2015) the zoo has an exciting couple of years. Here is my opinion on the zoo:
Toledo Zoo is a very complete establishment, with a large African section, a variety of monkeys and great apes, an Arctic zone, a new elephant exhibit, an award-winning children’s zoo, a separate amphibian display, an invertebrates section, and many historic 1930's-era buildings such as the Aviary, Reptile House and Aquarium. The main complaint from zoo enthusiasts is that while there is very little that is genuinely poor there are also not a great number of outstanding exhibits. Toledo is a solid zoo that is well worth visiting, and it would be classified as being an average-sized establishment in terms of overall quality in comparison to many other American facilities.

This exhibit has been frustrating since the African penguins were moved to the Penguin Beach. The zoo just seems to keep putting in a new animal every one or two years. Whether it being Pelicans, Great Black-Backed Gulls or Patagonian Mara’s . The Patagonian Maras have been here longer than anyone else. They are currently accompanied by a striped skunk, I can’t remember if they rotate or on exhibit together.
