Yes, and on opening day (May 12th, 1985) the zoo had a record-setting crowd of 22,000 and the gorillas climbed all over the two glass tunnels. I'm not sure how often the apes do that these days, but seeing 3 photos of the gorillas on the tunnels in a Topeka Zoo history book was pretty cool.
@DavidBrown There is still a solitary sun bear there, but the animal is 31 years old and near the end of its life. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the exhibit in the future.
