South American Pavilion (review below)

Aug. 14th, 2014. This more traditional Bird House was built in 1970 but extensively modernized and updated in 2010. There is an indoor area with a central zone and 7 aviaries in a circle, and the same 7 aviaries all have outdoor components that can be seen from an outside loop. It is an extremely well-designed structure and between going inside and outside it is possible to see all of the inhabitants in their well-furnished exhibits. The species list includes: 1- Yellow-Rumped Cacique, Pompadour Cotinga, Blue-Grey Tanager, Sunbittern, 2- Troupial, Blue-Crowned Motmot, Silver-Beaked Tanager, Chaco Chacalaca, 3- Keel-Billed Toucan, 4- Sun Conure, 5- Scarlet Ibis, Crested Oropendola, Northern Pintail, Lesser Scaup, 6- Pompadour Cotinga, Red-Capped Cardinal, Blue Dacnis, Turqoise Tanager, Southern Lapwing, 7- Guira Cuckoo, Grey-Necked Wood Rail and Green Aracari.
